All At Sea With Cash Donation

Weymouth Sea Cadets’ volunteering has been recognised with a cash donation from Weymouth Rotary.

The youngsters were a key part of 2022’s ‘Fayre In The Square’ charity event, helping collect donations from locals and visitors alike – and Weymouth Rotary is thrilled to have been able to donate a portion of the fundraising to the Sea Cadets in return.

The presentation evening was preceded by a parade and presentations of certificates and prizes to members.

Rotary President Nominee, Richard Burgess said “Weymouth Rotary Club have always welcomed the Weymouth Sea Cadets Detachment at our annual Fayre In The Square charity fundraising event. The cadets were smartly turned out and immaculately well behaved, as well as being a great help to us in collecting money for local good causes. In recent years, their ‘conga’ in No1 Dress Uniform has been a much-loved feature too!”

Sub Lt (SCC) Sara Cornick RNR, Commanding Officer said “we are very grateful for the generosity of Weymouth Rotary Club. The donation will go towards helping our young people achieve nationally recognised qualifications in areas such as sailing, powerboating and offshore voyages, as well as resources for our twice-weekly skills sessions at the unit. Our Cadets thoroughly enjoy helping out at Fayre In The Square which is part of their community activity modules”.

Rotary President, David Langridge added “we’re delighted to have been able to provide funding for yet another local charity; especially one that helps the next generation learn essential confidence and life skills”.
